woman in rain

In almost all climates, rainy weather is inevitable. At some point, it is going to be rainy and windy when you need to be somewhere else.

How can you stay stylish without getting drenched at the same time?

Truthfully, it takes some planning and knowledge to be able to look fashionable in bad weather. Some of the generic things people wear are not always the cutest, but there are ways to work around this with better clothing and accessory options!

Figure out what you can wear the next time you have the inconvenience of bad weather by checking out some of our style tips below.

Rainy Weather Style: What Should You Wear?

Trying to figure out what you want to wear when it is cold, wet, and rainy outside can be difficult. After all, you probably can’t wear the same thing that you would normally wear because no one wants to be uncomfortable.

These are some ideas on what you might want to think about wearing the next time you have bad weather and need to be somewhere in style!

1. Color Block Trench Jacket

A great investment to make is a high quality trench jacket because they are great in almost any type of weather. They don’t get too hot and they are still durable enough to withstand wind and rain.

A heavy raincoat does the job, but it doesn’t look very good and may become boxy when you wear it. Consider buying a trench jacket with a detachable hood so that you can wear it the way you want to.

Getting a color block jacket can help you still stand out on a dreary day, which may be easier to pair neutral clothes with underneath.

2. Use a Bubble Umbrella

This is a must have accessory for anyone wanting to be fashionable on a rainy day.

Obviously, a regular golf umbrella will work also, but they expand out so far that other people may be annoyed with this choice.

A bubble umbrella helps you stay guarded from the rain and even shields your hair from rain and wind at the same time.

3. Layers, Layers, Layers

When you’re dealing with windy and rainy weather, you need to be prepared. It could get really cold or it could suddenly become bright and sunny.

Some climates have very unpredictable weather and you don’t want to be caught in a situation that is uncomfortable because of your clothing choices.

Having light layers on will help you stay cozy, but still comfortable if you need to remove something indoors or if it suddenly becomes hot outside.

4. Nylon or PVC Tote Bag

One of the worst things about the rain is that your bag could easily become ruined. A great solution for this is that you use a nylon, PVC, or other waterproof material for your bag instead.

You could even buy an oversized bag to put your regular purse into so that you can use both.

A bag like this can be big or small, so choose the type that you think would be most convenient for you. Some of them even are clear so you can easily see what is inside!

5. Water Resistant Boots

Rain boots are a staple in almost everyone’s closet, but they don’t have to be the traditional type that you always see.

You can get water resistant boots in a lot of different styles, such as a Chelsea boot or duck boots, so you don’t have to go with the same boot each time.

This can be a good way to spruce up an outfit if you want to look a little nicer even when the weather is bad. You can see here for some ideas on different types of boots that may work for you.

6. Printed Poncho

If you’re not the type of person that likes to wear rain jackets or coats, you may be better off with a poncho.

When you think of poncho, you may think of the generic disposable clear or semi-clear option, but there are reusable ponchos that are really cute if you know where to look! You can get a print that you really like, such as floral or abstract, or you could even just get a plain color.

One of the things that makes a poncho an easy thing to wear is that it literally just lays on top of your clothing, so everything gets protected. You also can get the kind with a hood to protect your hair if the weather may affect it.

7. Leather

While it may seem impractical to wear leather clothing during a rainy day, it’s so easy to towel dry that it actually makes a lot of sense. Leather is a very durable material when it is good quality and well put together.
