Curling short hair isn’t any harder than curling your long hair. There are simple ways to curl your short hair and rock some pretty stylish hairdos. Although there’s no one easiest way to curl short hair, there are a few easy techniques to choose from.

Continue reading below to discover several simple ways to curl your short hair and then find the one that works best for you!

A Basic Curling Iron

A basic curling iron is a good starting point. The size of the iron will determine the size of your curls. If your hair is super short, then you might want to go with a smaller iron to create plenty of curls to fill your head.

Spray your hair with a texturing spray first if you need a boost for holding the curls. You should then apply a heat protectant to your hair as well since the curling iron uses heat. Comb through your hair well, which will evenly disperse the product and remove any tangles before curling.

Wrap a section of hair around the iron and hold it in place for a few seconds. Release and then do the same with the next strand, but in the opposite direction to increase volume. When done, give your hair a quick spray of hairspray and shake it all about!

A Newer Curling Wand

Curling wands are a newer type of tool for curling hair. Curling wands work well for those wanting to curl their hair but keep the ends straight. Apply your heat protectant and clip up the top section of your hair.

Wrap a section of hair around the wand, leaving an inch or so at the end. Hold for a few sections and release. Allow the curls to cool before running your fingers through them.

Move on to the top section when done and repeat. You can run a flat iron through the tips to complete the look and then top it off with some hairspray.

A Unique Straightener

A unique way to straighten hair is by using a hair straightener. The flat iron method works well for those with thin hair who want to add texture. Start by applying your heat protectant and then sectioning off the top part of your hair from the bottom.

Begin to straighten your hair as normal, but as you bring the iron down, rock it back and forth while creating a bending motion in your wrist. This will create some waves. You can also wrap your hair around your flat iron to create some texture.

Try it in a few different ways until you’ve got the curl you’re looking for.

A Variety of Rollers

There are several different types of heated rollers that you can choose from to curl your hair with. Be sure to use rollers that’ll create the curls you want and work well with your short hair. Small rollers tend to work better for short hair and will create tighter curls.

Apply a heat protectant and heat your rollers. While your rollers are heating, section your hair and then you can begin to wrap the sections in the rollers. Use gloves to protect your hands while curling and then leave them in until all the rollers are cooled.

Remove and throw in some hairspray to help hold the curls.

Styling Product and Mini Buns

Not everyone needs to use heat on their hair to create the curls they want. One simple way to bring some texture and fun curls into your hairstyle is to apply a styling product to your hair. Once you’ve done this, you can then create mini buns all around your head.

Because your hair is shorter, it shouldn’t take too long to create a few mini buns on your head. Leave these buns in overnight and remove them in the morning. The result should be beautiful, curly, and wavy hair.

If needed, apply some hairspray to ensure you stay stylish all day long.

A Heatless Flexi Rod

Another great way to curl your hair without heat is by using a heatless Flexi rod. Flexi rods are similar to rollers, but you won’t need to heat them. Apply some hair mousse and some leave-in conditioner to help create the curls.

Section off your hair and wrap the sections around the Flexi rods. You’ll want to wrap the entire section of hair from the root to the tip. Once done, wrap your hair in a wrap to hold it overnight.

In the morning, you can remove the rods and spray with hairspray to hold the curls!
