Christmas Shopping

Can you believe it? It’s almost Christmas. Let that Christmas-joy sink in before you start existentially asking yourself, “where has my year gone?”

One of the best things about the holidays is gifting. It’s fun to receive, but it’s heartwarming to give. And there’s no better person to give to than the lady that gave you life.

But, what the heck does she want or need? Is there even a gift for a mom who has everything? Don’t get too wrapped up in thought. Consider one of these 5 gift ideas for Mom.

1. The Gift of Relaxation

If your ma has everything in the world, we’re willing to bet she also has stress. And what’s a better way to unwind than a good ol’ massage (from someone else, of course).

Buy her a nice day at the spa that includes a full-body massage. Make it the works: it should include as much pampering as they offer.

If you want to take it a step further, go with her. Moms love nothing more than spending time with their kids.

2. Coupons As a Gift for a Mom Who Has Everything

Your mom might have all the material goods in the world, but there’s always something to do around the house.

If you’re a young man, make her a coupon book filled to the brim with physically-intensive (for a mother) chores. No mom wants to spend their afternoon mowing the lawn.

As a young lady, you could offer to do chores that don’t require as much gusto but aren’t enjoyable. Sweep, mop, or cook the family dinner.

3. Make Her a Photo Album

Moms are classic. They cherish photos. And the pictures of their kids will forever be near-and-dear to them.

Dig through old stacks of photos she might have and (carefully) assemble a photo album for her. Do it in chronological order with pictures as old as you.

If you can, get undeveloped photos processed. A lot of moms have rolls of film lying around that they eventually will process at a drug store. Do it for them and include them.

That’s assuming you have a lot of pictures. If you don’t, make her something else. A handmade phone holster, a knitted blanket, or a crocheted hat are all pretty easy.

4. Spend the Day With Her

This one’s harder to wrap than the others, but it can be done.

Like we said earlier, moms love spending time with their kids. It shows them how much you’re grateful for.

Simply taking them out for a nice dinner can mean more to her than any jewelry box. Make an effort in conversation, too — that means leaving your phone on silent.

5. Make It Nostalgic

If you have a parent that’s been everywhere and done everything, try making something that’ll evoke nostalgia.

Perhaps a basket of goodies from every state they’ve lived in. Eating something from your childhood reignites old memories.

Maybe include other items, too, like scented candles that encapsulate something from their youth. Olfactory is the strongest source of remembrance.

Merry Christmas, Mom

Christmas shopping is tough, especially for those with so much. Finding a gift for a mom who has everything, should elicit her emotion.
