Choose the Right Materials
Sports science has come a long way in recent years. While cotton joggers were once de rigueur, there are far better materials to wear. Cotton will absorb your sweat and cling to you. That’s both unpleasant feeling and unflattering to look at.
Polyester, spandex, nylon; there are many options that will wick moisture away from your body. This lets you still comfortable while looking good.
Opt for Layers
You’re going to finish your workout a lot sweatier than when you started. Layering your outfit keeps you comfortable as you warm-up. Ready for the treadmill? Ditch the zip-up and stay cool.
Layered outfits are a key part in having the right gym wear. Think of athletes before their events. They always have extra layers on to keep their muscles from getting too cool.
There may be a time to get down to those short gym shorts and sports bra, but you want to work your way there. Don’t shiver on the yoga mat because you came under-dressed.
Get Colorful
Black is such an easy color. It’s a great way to hide problem areas. It’s also bland.
The gym is a great place to go bold. People recognize that the sleeveless guy in short-shorts probably isn’t peacocking outside of the gym. Don’t be self-conscious about choosing loud colors.
Keep that Hair Up
Long, loose hair may work in the outside world, but the gym is for braids, buns, and ponytails.
Keeping your hair-up has many benefits. First and foremost is that it’s safer. Long hair is at risk of getting caught in the moving parts of the gym machines.
Keeping your hair out of your face is also much cooler. Keeping it up prevents it from getting plastered to your forehead and neck. You’re here to work it; don’t get distracted because you forgot a scrunchie.

Ultimately going to the gym is about feeling good. It doesn’t matter how far you can run or how much you can lift. It’s how you feel afterward, that stress being burnt off and those endorphins running free.
