Hair Removal Procedure

For those that are not a fan of having body hair or can’t have it in order to play a certain sport, you are probably trying to figure out the best hair removal method. If this sounds like you, then you are in the right place!

Keep reading to learn about the different types of hair removal to help you make an informed decision of which route you want to take.

Laser

Laser is a popular permanent kind of hair removal that began in 1992 in San Diego. It is great for anyone that is pale-skinned with darker hair. You can use the laser pretty much anywhere that you do not want hair, including the upper lip, bikini line, armpits, legs, and arms.

If you have the patience and money to go for laser then you might want to go this route. Typically it takes several sessions (depending on the area) and each session is spaced 4-6 weeks apart.

Keep in mind that laser is not the best option for light hair or for dark skin.

Sugaring

Sugaring is an alternative to waxing and shaving that is becoming more popular because the hair becomes thinner after each time you do it. Sugaring legs yourself can take between 20-30 minutes but you will only have to do this every 2-3 weeks vs shaving 10 min every day.

Sugaring is also convenient because you can do it from the comfort of your home and you do not have to worry about heating anything or dealing with sticky and messy wax.

Waxing

Waxing is another method of hair removal that you can either do at home or go to a salon and have someone wax your hair off. This is a more painful method but it’s a quick pain you will only experience during the session, the pain will not linger.

With this method, warm melted wax is applied to the skin following the direction of the hair growth and then a strip is placed on top and pulled off in the opposite direction. The entire hair including its root is removed when the strip is pulled up.

If you wax the bikini area keep in mind that it more than likely will cause ingrown hairs. For this reason, make sure that you exfoliate your skin before and after waxing to prevent dead skin cells from clogging the hair follicles.

Waxing is a popular option because your results can last up to 4 weeks because the hairs are being ripped out at the root.
