Change Your Breast Shape

Newsflash: 71% of women feel dissatisfied with their breast shape and size.

Some women feel they don’t have enough breast volume and they’d love to lift their breasts. Other women feel insecure about post-pregnancy breasts or the fact that they have sagging breasts as they get older. On the other end of the spectrum, some women have extremely large breasts that lead to health problems.

The question is: What can you personally do about your breast shape? Here are three options to consider.

Try Some Chest Exercises

To be clear, your breasts are made of fat, not muscle. Although exercise won’t directly change your breast shape, stronger chest muscles can give you the appearance of fuller, perkier boobs!

Exercise also helps to improve your posture, which will make your breasts look more attractive (and help you feel more confident).

Here are some simple exercises you can do at home to strengthen your chest muscles:

  • Pushups
  • Planks
  • Cobra pose
  • Chest press (with dumbbells or bands)
  • Chest flies (with dumbbells or bands)

You can see demonstrations of each of these exercises in this video.

Experiment With Different Types of Bras

There’s a lot more to body shape than whether you’re an apple, pear, or hourglass. Breasts also come in a wide variety of shapes and (as you well know), bras are definitely not one-size-fits-all.

Try matching your breast shape with the best type of bra for your body. This means:

  • A t-shirt bra for breasts that gravitate outwards
  • A balconette bra for wide-set breasts
  • An underwire bra for teardrop-shaped breasts
  • A padded spacer bra for asymmetrical breasts
  • An underwire plunge bra for long, slim breasts
  • A full-coverage bra for larger breast sizes (D-Cup+)

Keep in mind that your body changes as you age too. That cute balconette bra you wore in college might not work for your 30-year-old post-partum body.

Consider Breast Implants or Augmentation

If exercises and new bras aren’t enough to give you the breast shape you want, you might consider breast augmentation at Plastic Surgery Institute of Washington.

Thousands of women get breast implants every year to make their breasts appear larger and fuller. Others seek a breast reduction if their oversized breasts are contributing to health problems. Some women also opt for reconstructive plastic surgery after a mastectomy or other procedure that alters the appearance of their breasts.

The main types of implants are silicone or saline, and each has its pros and cons. You can discuss which option is best for you when you meet for a consultation with your surgeon.

Get the Breast Shape You’ve Always Wanted

It’s natural to experiences changes in your breast shape during and after pregnancy and as you get older in general.

However, you’re not always “stuck” with the shape you’ve got. Try some of the suggestions presented above to achieve the ideal breast size and shape for your figure.
